Off & Monster Season consists of two main stories: Orokamonogatari and Shinzoku Monogatari. Orokamonogatari tells the story of Koyomi's sister Tsukihi Araragi's adventure in middle school. Shinzoku Monogatari focuses on the new characters Koyomi meets at university and her relationships with them.

Orokamonogatari is about Tsukihi's encounter with a missing girl named "Mayoi Hachikuji" and his attempt to bring her back home. Mayoi seems to be a ghost who strangely keeps disappearing and telling Tsukihi strange stories. As Tsukihi tries to solve Mayoi's mystery and send her back home, he is also forced to confront his own inner world.

Shinzoku Monogatari is about Koyomi's relationship with a girl named "Sodachi Oikoshi" whom he met in college. Sodachi is a character who has some kind of obsession with Koyomi and constantly causes him trouble. As Koyomi tries to understand Sodachi's past and what made her the way she is, she also has to confront her own past.

Off & Monster Season was adapted for animation by SHAFT studio. The anime retains the visual style and atmosphere of the previous Monogatari seasons, while breathing new life into the series with new characters and storylines.
