PLOT

Cow and Chicken are siblings with human parents whose faces are never shown in the series. Initially, in the pilot episode "No Smoking," their parents' bodies are depicted without upper halves. In the episode "Cow and Chicken Reclining," Cow refers to these missing upper halves as her science project when she finds them in the closet. Mom's shadow in the same episode shows an upper half of her body, albeit cut off. In "Which Came First," Mom’s body is shown with an upper half when she sits on the TV and laughs. The creators addressed this inconsistency in the show's opening title sequence: "Mama had a chicken/Mama had a cow/Dad was proud/He didn't care how." This is the only explanation provided, though there are hints in "The Day I Was Born" suggesting Cow might be adopted, and in "Which Came First?", Mom mentions sitting on an egg, hinting at Chicken's paternity.
