INFORMATION

PLOT

The show achieved both commercial and critical success. The first episode, "Hamlet," won two awards for "Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation" at the 1993 Emmys (one for the animators and one for the designers and director) and a Gold Award at the 1993 New York Festival. The second-season episode, "The Winter's Tale," also won "Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation" at the 1996 Emmys. The episodes are still used in schools to help introduce children to Shakespeare. However, the series has faced criticism for cutting many scenes to shorten the episodes.
