Exosquad

The series is set between 2119 and 2121 AD, several decades after humanity ("Terrans") has expanded beyond Earth by terraforming and colonizing Venus and Mars. These three planets, known as "the Homeworlds," are central to the Terran interplanetary state and later the Neosapien Commonwealth. However, not all Terrans are aligned with the Homeworlds. The Pirate Clans, descendants of criminals exiled to the Outer Planets, now live off raiding Homeworlds' space freighters and represent a major independent faction in the show. The first episode begins with the Earth Congress sending the entire Exofleet, humanity's space-based military, to address the Pirate threat. As war with the Pirate Clans approaches, an uprising erupts among the Neosapiens, an artificial humanoid race that coexists with Terrans. Neosapiens were originally used as slaves during the colonization of Mars and Venus and are engineered to be physically stronger and more suited to harsh environments than humans. Their mistreatment led to the First Neosapien Revolt fifty years prior, which, despite being brutally suppressed, resulted in some improvements to their conditions. Dissatisfied with his situation, the Neosapien Governor of Mars, Phaeton, initiates a new insurrection, codenamed "Operation [Neosapien] Destiny," timed to coincide with the Exofleet's departure to combat the Pirate Clans. Phaeton's plan leverages the Exofleet's absence to facilitate the Neosapiens' capture of the Homeworlds with minimal resistance.
