PLOT
Twelve-year-old Cornelius Fillmore (voiced by Orlando Brown), once a juvenile delinquent with a criminal history, was caught stealing a shipment of chalk from the school. He was "arrested" by a safety patrol officer and given an ultimatum: assist with solving another case or face detention for the rest of middle school. Fillmore chose to help, eventually joining the safety patrol. The series revolves around Fillmore and his partner, Ingrid Third (voiced by Tara Strong), at X Middle School, situated in the suburbs of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota. The show's format satirizes hard-boiled police dramas, with X's safety patrol taking a more active role in policing student behavior than the typical school patrol. Officers often seem to patrol more than they attend class, though they do occasionally attend. As part of the Safety Patrol, Fillmore and Ingrid solve crimes and mysteries, usually featuring kid-friendly versions of typical crimes like stolen scooters, smuggling tartar sauce, illegal frog races, and counterfeit collector cards.
